January 7th, 2010

Funny, Micheal asked me to play Hendrix yesterday so I went searching through the albums that have yet to be alphabetized today and I found this.....

'Electric Ladyland and the Jimmy Hendrix Experiment'
Side D & part of C 'All Along the Watchtower'
Psychedelic Rock
Not very clean or well cared for but OBVIOUSLY has been played a lot! I am sure this is one of my $1 finds. At least this side D did not skip since that is one with a great classic, All Along the Watchtower! I had to stop side C and decided a professional record cleaning will make it sound better since it doesn't seem to have any scratches that jump.

'Desire'
Bob Dylan
Side 1 'Hurricane'
Folk Rock
Great old-school Dylan with lots of harmonica! I need more harmonica in my life....heard a cut called 'Isis' I don't recall having heard before or maybe my tatses were different and it didn't take notice with me before...anyways it was perfect for today...

'The Otis Redding Story'
PRISTENE 4 LP Set
Side 5  'Chain Gang' and 'Try a Little Tenderness'
Soul Blues
Awesome cover of 'Chain Gang' I had never heard before, possible one of the best I have heard.

'Second Helping'
Lynyrd Skynyrd
Side One 'Sweet Home Alabama'
Rock and Roll
If you took away one thing...guitar, bass, drums, vocals...the sounds on this album would not be complete. Perfect balance and harmony.

Currently listening to:
Original Andrew Lloyd Webber score from
1969 England studio recording
'Jesus Christ Superstar'

Sorry that my individual song picks today are such a cliche' and that I have picked the most popular songs off these albums today but that is what makes them classics.

Footnote: Since there are 8 sides to hear on the Otis Redding set I will be leaving this out to hear the rest as this LP is fantatstic! Mike suggested I listen to Mos Def...not much Hip Hop in my collection...yet!(Keyword: yet!). Is there anything from Mos Def on vinyl? Must find out.
